How to Book a Flight
Hopper is a mobile travel app. We operate as an Online Travel Agency, which means all new Hopper bookings need to be made through the app. Our agreements with the airlines and travel partners we work with specify that all of our bookings are made through our app.
Having trouble booking through the app? Here’s a step-by-step guide:
The Hopper app is available in the App Store and Google Play store. If you have iOS version 8 or later, or Android OS 4.2 and up, you can download it on your mobile device.
Creating an Account
Creating an account with Hopper is easy! You’ll have to create an account before you make your first booking. You can press the “Log In / Sign Up” button under the Trips Tab (a suitcase icon). You’ll be prompted to enter your phone number, at which point you’ll receive a link as an SMS message. From there, you add your account details and even pick a favourite bunny profile picture.
Tapping the Magnifying Glass will take you to the screen that allows you to search for flights. Choose your outbound and destination cities. You’ll then head to a screen where you can choose whether it’s a return or a one-way, and the travel dates.
The first screen you’ll see after entering your travel dates is one with a Hopper Bunny letting you know whether the prices you’re seeing are good or bad compared to historical data. You’ll then have the option to set a watch or shop the flight.
Setting a Watch
If you set a watch, Hopper will keep an eye on prices for you, and send you push notifications when the price is better, and whether or not now is a good time to book. You can see which flights you are watching by tapping the Binoculars in your app.
If you’re happy with the prices you are seeing, you can press the “Shop Flights” button. This will take you to a list of flights, showing the carrier, the time, and the Round Trip price (if applicable.) You can choose the itinerary and price that work best for you. At Hopper, we don’t do hidden fees, so the prices you see will always show the Hopper fee and applicable airline fees and taxes included in the fare you’re seeing.
Tips for the booking flow:
- When adding traveller information, double check that all names and birthdates match what is on the identification document you’ll be travelling with exactly to avoid any problems checking in or boarding your flights
- When adding payment information, make sure you know the correct billing address for the card you’ll be paying with. If you don’t have the right ZIP code, you may run into issues entering the card into the app.
Swipe to Pay and the Fair Bear
Before you confirm your booking, you’ll see a final screen where you can confirm your itinerary, traveller information, and payment information. You’ll also see the Fair Bear, reminding you of any fare restrictions that may come with a really low fare or low cost carrier. Once you’ve double (or triple) checked all information, you can drag your finger across the screen in the direction indicated to confirm your booking!
In the App: Tapping the Suitcase will display a list of your upcoming and past trips. You’ll see your new booking there after you’ve completed the booking flow, including a Hopper confirmation code, airline confirmation code, eTicket number, and itinerary.
Email: You’ll also receive an email confirming your reservation to the email address associated with your Hopper account. You’ll see the same information in the email as you do in the Trips Tab.
If you don’t receive an email or see a confirmation of your trip within the app after several minutes of completing your booking, contact our Support team.
